DAYTON SCORE'S MISSION
The mission of Dayton SCORE is to provide professional counseling, training, and mentoring while providing education resources for emerging and existing small business in the Dayto metro area that will enhance their success and improve their operational efficiency. This can be a means to higher future employment and more income to the area.
OUR GIFT OF SERVICE
Like many nonprofits, success is seen by how much good is done for the community they serve. But what often is not seen is the effort the organization must pursue to stay alive financially. The Dayton Chapter of SCORE provides a gift of service to the surrounding Dayton area in the form of free education and advice. About 50 members volunteer their time and talent at no charge. Many also make financial donations throughout the year to cover the needs of operation.
That would be a great story if it was that simple. There is still the cost of overhead to run a non profit. Administrative support, supplies, computer services, and replacement of office equipment make the demand for funds each year.. With no substantial source of income, Dayton SCORE depends on the generosity of foundations, financial institutions, local businesses and private donations. Because of the economy and the banking crisis we are in the hole early.
Investment in SCORE by the financial community makes good business sense. To obtain business loans clients must show they are organized, trust worthy and low risk. SCORE helps clients each year to improve their business plans so banks can make them loans. It is SCORE who often mediates for business owners between banks and the SBA to reduce risk and secure the financial support needed. More businesses mean more income for the local community and more jobs.
Networking with the business community can be a Win-Win relationship. Clients are often looking for recommendations and references for business help in the form of legal services, accounting, payroll, insurance, web development, and office support to name a few. Starting this year Dayton SCORE is compiling a reference list of resources for our clients. In addition, logos and company trademarks will be added to the webpage with active links. Working together can help more
people do better.
The need is great, the opportunities endless.
